Glenn was born to Japanese parents in Phoenix, Arizona. She was raised in Arizona’s Mesa. When she was a high school student, Glenn started performing. She earned a musical theatre degree from Arizona State University.

In 2013, Glenn received a role as Brook Soso, a fresh prisoner at Litchfield Penitentiary, in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Glenn’s performance was lauded by critics, and the series went on to have both critical and economic success.
