“I’m just a character actor,”

Margo Martindale told me over the phone, as we discussed her latest role on Netflix’s animated series Bojack Horseman.

“I’m not a movie star.”

Martindale was nominated for an Emmy for her role in Bojack’s first season as Beatrice Horseman, the mother of Bojack (Will Arnett), who suffers from Alzheimer’s. And while she was talking to me, she received another Emmy nomination for her role in FX’s The Americans, which is also streaming on Netflix.

“I’m so thrilled,”

she said.

“I’m thrilled for the show and I’m thrilled for my career.”

Martindale has been in the business for over 40 years, and has racked up an impressive resume of TV and film credits. She’s perhaps best known for her role as Mags Bennett on Justified, for which she won an Emmy, and her role as Claudia on The Americans.

But it’s her role on Bojack Horseman that has earned her a new generation of fans. The show, which is entering its fourth season, is a dark comedy about a washed-up actor who happens to be a horse. It’s a show that’s not afraid to tackle tough subjects, like addiction, mental illness, and, in Martindale’s case, Alzheimer’s.

“I think the thing that’s so great about Bojack is that it’s not afraid to go there,” she said. “It’s not afraid to tackle really difficult subjects.”

Martindale’s character, Beatrice, is a former Hollywood starlet who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. The role has been a challenge for Martindale, who has to play a character that is slowly losing her grip on reality.

“It’s been really interesting to play a character that is losing her memory,” she said. “It’s been a challenge, but it’s also been really rewarding.”

Martindale said she was drawn to the role because of the challenge it presented.

“I just love a challenge,” she said. “I love to be able to sink my teeth into a role and really explore it.”

Martindale said she was also drawn to the show because of its unique take on Hollywood.

“It’s just a really unique show,” she said. “It’s a really different take on Hollywood.”

Martindale said she’s been blown away by the response to the show, and is grateful to be a part of it.

“It’s been amazing,” she said. “I’m just so grateful to be a part of it.”
